Guides to remove and install Dell D510 Laptop Keyboard
Would you like to install a new keyboard in your Dell D510 laptop? It's relatively easy even for inexperienced users. In my guide I'll be replacing a damaged Dell D510 Laptop Keyboard(http://www.everbatt.com/dell-d510-laptop-keyboard-p-1244.html) with a new one I got here for less than $20 from everbatt.com. Before you start do not forget to turn off the laptop and remove the battery.
Remove one screw securing the keyboard. This screw is located between the lock/unlock and release latches.
Insert a small flat head screwdriver between the keyboard and base. Carefully lift up the keyboard as it shown on the picture below.
Move the keyboard and place it on the display panel so you can access components underneath.Carefully lift up the keyboard from the base and move it up so you can access the keyboard cable.
Before you remove the keyboard, you'll have to unlock the cable connector on the motherboard and release the cable. Be very careful. The keyboard connector is permanently attached to the motherboard. If you accidentally damage the connector, you'll have to replace the whole motherboard. The connector opens up like a door. You can open the connector with your fingernail.
Unlock the connector and release the keyboard cable.
Now you can remove the keyboard and replace it with a new one if needed.
Steps to install a new dell d510 keyboard is much easyier since you know how to remove one. But here I will show you some basic guide.
Take the new dell keyboard and attach the keyboard cable to the connector, and push the connector down. Slide the new keyboard in. Replace the keyboard shield.
Flip the HP laptop back over. Replace the set of five black plastic screws, and then the three silver screws. Replace the RAM cover.
After intall it well, please check it and you may meet the following situations.
1. If your keyboard is not responding, check to see that the connector is securely plugged into the correct port in the computer and your computer is plugged in and turned on. Also, check to see if there are any breaks or sharp twists in the keyboard cable.
2. If your keyboard is not responding correctly, check to see that the correct keyboard driver is installed in your system.

How do I replace keyboard on a dell 15?
It’s easy to break the flimsy keys on most laptops. Sometimes it’s cheaper to find a keyboard for your model laptop elsewhere than going through the manufacture. If you find yourself in this situation, you can use these steps to replace the keyboard. take “Dell Inspiron E1505 Keyboard” for example:
Removing the Damaged Keyboard…
Enusre the laptop is fully powered off, unplugged from the wall, and the battery taken out.
Turn the laptop over. On some models icons indicating which screws are attached to the keyboard are displayed. If not, you may have to “eyeball” it if you can’t find a breakdown for your model (such as dell pa 12 )online.
Remove those screws with a T-8 or Phillips screwdriver.
Turn the laptop back over and open it up. Check and see if the keyboard is tucked under any plastic pieces. If so, find if those plastic pieces are screwed into anything, and unfasten them as well. If not, it probably uses clamps that can easily be removed.
Remove the plastic pieces carefully with a toothpick or plastic pick if there is any in the way.
Unscrew any screws at the top (if necessary) and remove the keyboard itself from top to bottom. You’ll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, data cable to the system board at the bottom.
Take that same pick and lift the plastic connectors that hold in this data cable in place.
carefully remove the data cable. Now the whole keyboard should be free.
Replacing the keyboard.
Take the new laptop keyboard out of the plastic, and slip the data cable back in between the plastic connectors on the system board. Make sure it’s all the way in.
Use the pick to push the plastic connectors back into place, and make sure it’s holding the data cable in.
Slip the keyboard itself into place, from bottom to top. Make sure the screw holes or clamps line up at the top.
Refasten the keyboard in place at the top.
If you had to remove any plastic pieces, carefully snap them back in and replace any screws you had to remove.
Turn the laptop over and replace all of the keyboard screws.
Finally, put the battery back in and power on the laptop. If all has gone well, the keyboard should be functioning like brand new.
