how do i connect a Linksys Wireless-G Cable Gateway to my comp.?
i neeed wifi, and I have A Microsoft xp and i followed all the directions, for some odd reason though when i think i connect it to the modem and i turn on the comp. The comp has not found new hardware, like the instructions said it would... PLEASE HELP
It explicitly says it didn't find the hardware? If you're just connecting your computer to the router using the ethernet / CAT5 cable, you should not have to "install" anything just to talk to the router. Of course, this is assuming that your network adapter is already installed and running.
But if you're saying that it's complaining about not finding hardware, I'm wondering if it is something completely unrelated to the router.
Again, let me reiterate:
If you go and buy a computer, and buy a router, separately, and go home and connect the computer to the router to your modem to set it up, you do NOT technically need to install any additional software to do that!
And I think something else is going on with your computer.
